On the XA40 RAV4 this is one of the easier bulb jobs, with one catch: the two sides are not equally easy. The passenger-side low beam can usually be changed by feel in ten minutes through the dust cap behind the housing. The driver side is crowded by the battery and air intake snorkel, and people with big hands end up either moving the intake duct or pulling the whole headlight out on three 10 mm bolts.
Low beam is H11 across all halogen trims; high beam is 9005/HB3, so don't buy one and pull the other. The single most common mistake is handling the new bulb bare-handed, followed by not reseating the rubber dust cap fully, which lets moisture in and fogs the lens over the next few months. Also check your trim first: some 2016-2018 Limited and Platinum RAV4s came with LED low beams that have no replaceable bulb at all.
