This is the easiest maintenance item on the XV50 Camry. The airbox lid is held by spring clips, the filter is a flat panel, and you never have to remove the mass airflow sensor or the intake tube. Most people finish it in under fifteen minutes with nothing but their hands and a small screwdriver for the stiff clips.
The mistake to watch for is seating: the filter has a soft rubber seal that must sit flat in the housing groove, and the lid has locating tabs at the front that have to slide into their slots before the clips will close. Force the clips shut with a corner of the filter folded over and you get unfiltered air, whistling, and sometimes a rough idle or MAF-related code. Also resist the urge to crank down the plastic bolt or duct clamp - snug is all it takes.
